Learn how to combat drug abuse in teens on March 20

Learn about the drug-reversing agent that can reverse opioid overdoses, Naloxone. Join the next City of Mission Viejo Drug Prevention Coalition meeting on March 20, Wednesday at 6 p.m. Come to Norman P. Murray Community and Senior Center and know more about this drug is also known as Narcan.

The chair of the Orange County Pharmacists Association and assistant professor at American University of Health Services, Pharmacist Elaine Nguyen, will discuss the proper ways to use this type of medication. Participants can also learn about the signs and symptoms that indicate that a teenager is overdosing. Help save a life and start it with basic knowledge about this matter.

Every attendee of this presentation and training will go home with a Naloxone kit. Note that coalition meetings welcome those interested in learning about community resources that address drug use and prevention. These events also foster learning for area drug trends.

The city of Mission Viejo works with local support groups like the Orange County Health Care Agency and Solace of Orange County. Together, they aim to prevent drug addiction and dependency in the city.
