Lake Mission Viejo is Mission Viejo’s center point for leisure time activities. You can do a lot of fun activities in this 124-acre freshwater human-made reservoir and 50 acres of land. Series of special events were also once held here. You may also catch several concerts here by different artists.

Members of the Lake Mission Viejo Association can freely access the lake. The association is made up of residents of the planned community in Southern California. It has been carefully maintained by the Lake Association to make sure the water is safe for contact.

Lake Mission Viejo includes two main beaches where you can see families and group of friends staying under the sun. You may also spot smaller beaches in the area. The Lake Mission Viejo Lifeguards will make sure you have a safe beach time at these beaches.


*North Beach (open for the whole year)

The North Beach holds the record of being the largest beach at the lake. It has a full sandy beach area where visitors can set up for a picnic with basketball and volleyball courts. You may also rent a clubhouse here to hold special events. North Beach is home to all administration buildings as well as boat rentals and boat launching.

*East Beach (open during summertime and weekends from Memorial Day through Labor Day)

East Beach ranks second to North Beach’s size in Lake Mission Viejo. This beach has several facilities as well to serve you for fun times. They have picnic tables with an upper picnic site for large groups available for reservation. East Beach also has a playground area, barbecues, and basketball court.


To enjoy all the fun in Lake Mission Viejo, you need to be a member of the Lake Mission Viejo Association. You’ll have an identification badge you must bring anytime you go to LMV. Aside from accessing the lake, it also serves as a fishing license.

If ever you forgot to bring your ID badge, you may get a Temporary Facility Access Pass where you’ll be required to present a valid I.D.


The clubhouse at North Beach is the perfect place for any events like weddings or birthdays. It’s a 2,500 square feet with a large kitchen, assembly seating for 376, and table seating for 170. You’ll enjoy celebrating the precious moments of your life while enjoying the panoramic view around you.


Lake Mission Viejo offers several water activities for members and their chosen guests like renting a boat! To rent a boat here at Lake Mission Viejo, you must bring and show your current and valid identification badge.

  • Pontoon Party Boats (10 people)
  • Sailboats (14’)
  • Watertrikes (single and tandem)
  • Pedal Boats (2 or 4 people)
  • Kayaks (single and tandem)
  • Paddleboard


When you go fishing in Lake Mission Viejo, get ready to catch different kinds of fishes! The reservoir has trout, bass, tilapia, catfish, and sunfish. There’s a designated shoreline area where members of the association can enjoy fishing. Guests are required to pay a fishing fee. The Boat Rental Office sells bait and other fishing equipment.


To have a hassle-free party on boats and picnic, you can now reserve one here at Lake Mission Viejo online up to 30 days in advance. Party boats are $25/hour, and a member can book 1-2 party boats for 1-2 hours. Picnic tables are $10/table each day, and a member can reserve up to two tables per day.
